My TV appearance

Last week I made my second TV appearance here in Brisbane on a local show Extra on Chanel 9. It went so well to raise the awareness of pnd to other mums out there.
Heather Ford who hosts the show also mentioned how she suffered twice and that people need to find help.

Here is the link to what was said on the show.

Please email at info@beatpostnataldepression.com if you saw the show or want any extra information.

We are back to school this week, so very busy again after the holidays but much quieter with two less.

My warmest wishes to all the Mums out there.

Checking in on Feelings

Here is a picture of my happy little munchkins on first day of school this year. They are happy because mummy is happy. It makes such a difference to the house, when one person is not feeling right, the mood can affect all around. The universal laws of attraction play a part in this. 'What we give out comes back to us multipled!'

How is your day going? Focus on how you are feeling, are you sad, happy, anxious, excited etc. Just have a little look at yourself to see how you are feeling today?
Maybe this is when you can write a little about it. I find journalling a great way to do this when I have feelings that I need to explore. One of my eclasses is all about how to journal, when and what to journal and what type of journal will work best for you. www.beatpostnataldepression.com

When I was at my worst in the depths of depression, I would write pages and pages of stuff. It was later that it became more constructive and I could see the negative patterns emerging that were keeping me in the depression.

Hope this has helped you a little today.

Have a great day

Affirmations

Happy Easter to all!

I was using these on the weekend again. I had the most enjoyable time camping, it was raining, most would say how bad because it rained. We still enjoyed ourselves and made the most of it.

Today I am going to talk about using affirmations. I found this kit to be very useful to make your own affirmations or use the 24 pre-made cards. Louise Hay also has a CD where she talks about how you can make affirmations a daily part of your life. It is a great investment for your personal self.

Take a look. I always buy my books from fishpond. They have free shipping for orders over $50 and they are very fast with delivery. The prices are also very competitive to the shops and what more convenient way then to buy from the comfort of your own home. Just click on the picture.

Hypnosis Can Help

I used a subliminal hypnosi cd for help with sleeping. I also had hypnosis sessions with my acupuncturist. I would feel so relaxed after the treatment. He also showed me tools to use at home to put me in that state. I am a believer in hypnosis.

I have found a great company who makes hypnosis cd's and thought you might be interested in buying one. They have specific ones for post natal depression and one for coming off anti-depressants.

Take a look.

5 Hypnosis Myths Exploded

OVER the years, hypnosis has picked up all sorts of weird associations from stage hypnotists, the media and superstition. This is a great shame, because in reality, hypnosis is your single most effective tool for change. Hypnosis is your birthright, and you should know how to use it so it doesn't use you. Here we dispel the biggest hypnosis myths.

Hypnosis Myth 1) All hypnosis is the same

As with anything, hypnosis can be good, bad or indifferent. The most common is old-style authoritarian hypnosis of the type "You are getting sleepy, you are feeling confident". Unsurprisingly, this sort of hypnosis doesn't work well with many people. Good hypnosis uses subtle psychological principles and advanced communication patterns.

It's like the difference between a football coach who thinks you'll perform best if he yells at you, compared with the more elegant style of a great leader who knows that to get the best from his people, he needs to understand motivation, to cajole, encourage and reward.

Hypnosis Downloads.com offers hundreds of sessions using the best type of hypnosis.

Hypnosis Myth 2) Subliminals work

Subliminals are words that you can't hear. Common sense says they shouldn't work, and there's no research proving that they do.

Hypnosis Myth 3) Some people can't be hypnotized

The only reason you can't be hypnotized is if you are incapable of paying attention due to extremely low IQ or brain damage. That's not to say that every hypnotist can hypnotize you however. The more flexible the hypnotist, the more effective she will be with the largest number of people.

Hypnosis Myth 4) Hypnosis is something weird that other people do to you

If you couldn't go into hypnosis, you wouldn't be able to sleep, to learn, or get nervous through 'negative self hypnosis'. (You know when you imagine things going wrong and it makes you feel anxious? Well that's self hypnosis!)

Hypnosis is simply a deliberate utilization of the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) or dream state. We're not giving people medication here – if it wasn't a natural ability, hypnosis wouldn't work!

Hypnosis Myth 5) You lose control in hypnosis

Crazy news stories, stage hypnotists and gossip have created the illusion that you lose control in hypnosis. In fact, when hypnotized, you are relaxed and focused – and able to choose to get up and walk away at any time. You choose to give your attention to the hypnotist, and you can withdraw it at any time.

If you have been scared of hypnosis in the past, this article has hopefully convinced you to at least give it a try. But remember, ensure what you're getting is the real thing. Visit www.hypnosisdownloads.com

Dad's and PND

This one topic that sometimes gets forgotton. The focus is on the Mum in pregnancy, birth and after the birth. When a mum is diagnosed with pnd it is the partner who has to live with the mother who may have changed. She is not the person they first met.

Dad's can be very angry, It is like their partner has been abducted by aliens.
Dad's too need support throught this time so they too can be there for the Mum and help out with the baby and/or other kids.

It was a very hard time for my husband. He was a huge support and he too was suffering because I was not the person he met and loved. He couldn't have his life as what he was used to and he also had to work to provide for us.

Dad's also need time out from the responsibilities. Also it is a great idea if you are having counselling to take your partner along, things can be explained and when you are feeling better, you can have sessions together.

Also watch out for Dad's with depression. It can happen during or after the crisis period of pnd. You may be better, but then your partner crashes because he has been holding the fort up and being brave.

For that reason I suggest, if you become a member of Beat Post Natal Depression, you get your partner to do the lessons also, especially when I get you to look at what are your values, how to set goals and relaxation.

I will get my husband to write a blog of his account for you.
